Carmina Burana
Saturday 1 November 2025, 7.00pm
St George’s Bristol
Tickets from £10 · Ages 14+ · Main Hall
Step into a world of thunderous rhythms, bold emotions, and medieval revelry with Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, performed by Bristol Ensemble and Fitzhardinge Consort.
From the iconic “O Fortuna” famously used in film trailers and those Old Spice ads, to hidden medieval gems, this evening of choral drama moves from raucous tavern songs through serene pastoral dances to intimate romantic lyricism. It’s music that explodes with power, yet weaves in threads of ancient poetry and Renaissance-inspired dance: guaranteed to stir something primal and joyous in every listener.
The programme begins with Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 3 and Warlock’s Capriol Suite, both evoking – but never mimicking – a bygone era with fresh vitality.
St George’s Café Bar will be open 90 minutes before the concert, offering a delicious pre‑order option of house drinks and mezze boards—bread, dips, olives, stuffed peppers, falafel, feta, and salad—perfect for warming up your senses before the performance.
